Both fitness and strength are very hard to level up. Can I Survive in Project Zomboid with ALL the NEGATIVE Traits? | Ep 1 I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. Just watch life and living and read books for the first week to level cooking. When choosing traits for a character, remember any skill (other than fitness and strength gets a permanent XP bonus (1- 75% 2- 100% 3+ 125% to that skill, as well as extra level(s.)). As long as you arent fighting zombies in melee combat non-stop theres no reason that should need first-aid. Oh, you mean in game? This is intended to be more a general guide for new players- what to consider taking and what to absolutely avoid. This in turn will help your character not to get panicked as quickly. This trait would be a hard sell even as a negative. What are all the negative traits that go away overtime? Which DOES affect stamina. By using the aforementioned exercise system and making sure youre only eating your greens, you can shed off some kilos easily after picking this perk. Though its hard to justify taking for 8 points. This is a real challenge to start with and a pain in the ass to raise your fitness. Not very useful, prevents you from taking prone to illness which is a very good negative trait to take. If you manage to level up your fitness level a couple of points you wont see the effect of these traits at all. The extra speed will often cause you to crash and badly injure yourself, even with cruise control. It makes getting bitten extremely easy. However, keep in mind you won't have this button in multiplayer, so we would avoid choosing it withmultiplayer characters. There's also an unlisted benefit that's hard to quantify but lets you literally hear zombies from behind you as if they were in front of you. Generally the characters of mine that survive the longest are the ones that almost never get into any contact with zombies at all. It cancels out their negatives. Seriously, getting both of these will be a slog at the start but thanks to the new exercise system introduced into the Build 41 version of the game you can get your fitness level up by utilizing it. Always love learning the little quirks like this in the game. Organized also increases storage size of backpacks and shelving and whatnot. I guess it is really playstyle dependent. Many months ago I did a list on my top 10 best traits in Project Zomboid. I used to not run it, but I think I'll always run it in the future ever since using it. Sleepyhead 1/5. Gymnast is S tier just like athletic. A lot of people are happy being slowpokes. Possibly the best perk you can take. .Rd5g7JmL4Fdk-aZi1-U_V{transition:all .1s linear 0s}._2TMXtA984ePtHXMkOpHNQm{font-size:16px;font-weight:500;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:4px}.CneW1mCG4WJXxJbZl5tzH{border-top:1px solid var(--newRedditTheme-line);margin-top:16px;padding-top:16px}._11ARF4IQO4h3HeKPpPg0xb{transition:all .1s linear 0s;display:none;fill:var(--newCommunityTheme-button);height:16px;width:16px;vertical-align:middle;margin-bottom:2px;margin-left:4px;cursor:pointer}._1I3N-uBrbZH-ywcmCnwv_B:hover ._11ARF4IQO4h3HeKPpPg0xb{display:inline-block}._2IvhQwkgv_7K0Q3R0695Cs{border-radius:4px;border:1px solid var(--newCommunityTheme-line)}._2IvhQwkgv_7K0Q3R0695Cs:focus{outline:none}._1I3N-uBrbZH-ywcmCnwv_B{transition:all .1s linear 0s;border-radius:4px;border:1px solid var(--newCommunityTheme-line)}._1I3N-uBrbZH-ywcmCnwv_B:focus{outline:none}._1I3N-uBrbZH-ywcmCnwv_B.IeceazVNz_gGZfKXub0ak,._1I3N-uBrbZH-ywcmCnwv_B:hover{border:1px solid var(--newCommunityTheme-button)}._35hmSCjPO8OEezK36eUXpk._35hmSCjPO8OEezK36eUXpk._35hmSCjPO8OEezK36eUXpk{margin-top:25px;left:-9px}._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP,._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP:focus-within,._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP._3aEIeAgUy9VfJyRPljMNJP:hover{transition:all .1s linear 0s;border:none;padding:8px 8px 0}._25yWxLGH4C6j26OKFx8kD5{display:inline}._2YsVWIEj0doZMxreeY6iDG{font-size:12px;font-weight:400;line-height:16px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-metaText);display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;padding:4px 6px}._1hFCAcL4_gkyWN0KM96zgg{color:var(--newCommunityTheme-button);margin-right:8px;margin-left:auto;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-errorText)}._1hFCAcL4_gkyWN0KM96zgg,._1dF0IdghIrnqkJiUxfswxd{font-size:12px;font-weight:700;line-height:16px;cursor:pointer;-ms-flex-item-align:end;align-self:flex-end;-webkit-user-select:none;-ms-user-select:none;user-select:none}._1dF0IdghIrnqkJiUxfswxd{color:var(--newCommunityTheme-button)}._3VGrhUu842I3acqBMCoSAq{font-weight:700;color:#ff4500;text-transform:uppercase;margin-right:4px}._3VGrhUu842I3acqBMCoSAq,.edyFgPHILhf5OLH2vk-tk{font-size:12px;line-height:16px}.edyFgPHILhf5OLH2vk-tk{font-weight:400;-ms-flex-preferred-size:100%;flex-basis:100%;margin-bottom:4px;color:var(--newCommunityTheme-metaText)}._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX{margin-top:6px}._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX._19lMIGqzfTPVY3ssqTiZSX._3MAHaXXXXi9Xrmc_oMPTdP{margin-top:4px} YouTuber Retanaru also posted a great video breaking down some of the best traits to use that you can see here. I don't see very many discussions on this topic, and the wikis are barren with which traits can go away aside from those as a result of the recent Fitness update. Detrimental. If you gain enough weight, you won't be "underweight" anymore ; if you lvl up your strenght skill enough, you'll go from "weak" to "feeble", or from "feeble" to nothing (5 fitness) and so on. Only downside is sometimes you have nothing to do in a day, leaving your character to get bored and depressed, but thats what sleeping pills and exercise are for. The name of the game is avoid being attacked at all costs since any damage from a zombie can be a death sentence. Since we are on the vein of traits that wont matter in the long-term its worth bringing underweight into the mix. I don't understand why people like it. Prone to illness + outdoorsman somewhat cancel out for +2 points. Along with hunger and fatigue,. You character wont get panicked if they come to a fight, it will just slow the EXP gain. And disease can be avoided by spacing out crops. -1 Fitness. Unless youre able to set yourself up well with vehicles, gas, weapons and meds before you die; youre going to have to do the early game grind all over again. Then again it isnt the worst thing in the world to only be restricted to large houses at the start of the game. Players have shared screenshots of thousands and thousands of cigarettes in their inventories. While water will shut off during the first month of the game, it's easy to find . Kind of a niche case but worth mentioning. The critical chance of attacks is capped between 10% and 90%. You'll never get cold in this game (on default climate settings) with all the access to clothing layers, and how unpowered buildings magically heat for huge amounts. If you don't want to use the skill don't bother, but id encourage anyone to use this skill as much as possible. -4 Fitness, Very Underweight: Very low strength, very low endurance and prone to injury. 4 & 5- Always worth considering when making a new character. You can gain a couple levels in them by just watching TV in the first 9 days. Being even drowsy drastically reduces your melee damage output. Don't take it if you're planning on using an axe as a main weapon. I'd put Dextrous at 3. Is there any reason to not grab Weak, Obese, and Unfit? Avoid. Take with outdoorsman to negate most of the negative effects and gain 2 free points. Negative Traits That Can Go Away :: Project Zomboid Discussions gnrales Take weak stomach instead. Not worth it, dexterous is too useful, and the 400% transfer rate is insane. You can just eat more or less and eventually it will be free points. I'm considering taking hearty appetite next time. Eventually Claustrophobic will wear off in Project Zomboid as well. 50% lower item transfer time is not only convenient for day to day living, but also really helps out when looting surrounded by zombies. Tailoring is a massively overlooked skill and starting XP boosts to tailoring are few and far between. 142. if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'setreadygame_com-medrectangle-4','ezslot_8',113,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-medrectangle-4-0'); if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'setreadygame_com-narrow-sky-1','ezslot_16',146,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-narrow-sky-1-0');Considering that you can get water through many different sources all the way through the game, I generally consider this free points. Just sleep through the nights or carry a flashlight, its that easy. Allows you to detect zombies behind you at a greater distance. 1. The extra speed will often cause you to crash and badly injure yourself, even with cruise control. You can really live without this one, 6 points is costly too. The xp boosts that gymnast provide are pretty useful to keeping you alive in combat so I always take it. 2 High Thirst. It doesn't really change anything as reading in Project Zomboid is already slow at normal speed. To achieve this, you will need to balance out positive traits with negative ones. Now, SP and MP differ slightly because of no time forward. But at that point you might as well give your character 2 extra points in the settings. Just fast forward time. It depends on whether youre doing MP or SP In general, Slow Healer, Prone to Illness, High Thirst and Weak Stomach are probably the free-est traits. I imagine most players that die in combat die because they weren't backing away fast enough. You are correct. Comments are on moderation and will be approved in a timely manner. Of course, some are rendered irrelevant by the extreme end game: Slow reader is not relevant after all books have been read, neither is slow learner after all skills are maxed out / max level is reached. Find the official Discord here: The 10 Best Negative Traits in Project Zomboid - Build 41 inconspicuous actually sucks. This is honestly a very great perk worth considering, especially for only 4 points. Even for multiplayer. Slow reader: 3/5. The annoyance and extra time of Hemophobic would put it at 3/5 in my opinion. .s5ap8yh1b4ZfwxvHizW3f{color:var(--newCommunityTheme-metaText);padding-top:5px}.s5ap8yh1b4ZfwxvHizW3f._19JhaP1slDQqu2XgT3vVS0{color:#ea0027} I always like to see how other peoples play styles since the game is so customizable. I think speed demon also increases your gas consumption so thats yet another reason not to take it. One decent trait for getting a couple of points back is of course slow reader. Leave a comment below and once youre done with this list you can also check out another post I did on the top 10 best traits to take in Project Zomboid. I'd rather level up dancing or piano (an actual mod skill). It's an absolutely amazing trait. https://discord.gg/theindiestone, Press J to jump to the feed. My opinions on each trait in the game I made in an ADHD fuelled frenzy. May get you killed from sneaky back attack zombies. It might even be less than 1 per second. When you're trying to coral zombies, Keen Hearing let's you see how far zombies are following behind you without having to constantly spin around and risk having the slow down let them catch you. First aid is not. If you want to fish to survive this is a must have for the 75% XP boost, if not don't take the perk lol. Must have for people wanting to use axes as their main weapon. If youre being stealthy you can generally avoid getting into danger but youre right. Because of this I'd personally put it at 2, but I won't dispute a 3 too much simply because for whatever reason other people somehow find it to be useful. ._3K2ydhts9_ES4s9UpcXqBi{display:block;padding:0 16px;width:100%} and the bonus to build times and construction strength are great too. One of the best traits frequently recommended by the Project Zomboid community is Short-Sighted. For this reason I usually take the Repairman profession combined with handy to get a solid xp boost to maintenance. This also reduces your base fatigue rate by a good amount, meaning that you avoid the horrendous tired debuffs for longer. The only opinion I disagree with is thin-skinned. I'll start with the ones I've been able to determine: Feeble Obese Out of Shape Overweight Poor eyesight . The Weak Stomach trait causes the player to have more food illnesses but is easily avoided if you watch what you eat in the game. Thanks for the list and the explanations. and our Privacy Policy. Provides a 30% XP boost on top of existing boosts to ALL skills. Feeble and Weak: 3/5 strength is much easier to level than Fitness, and is also less important. Still, if your character is the farmer of the group and will stay mostly out of the action, a thin-skinned hemophobic will give you plenty of points to spend on some great perks in the positive traits side. 2 points for 1 str, 1 axe and 1 sprinting for a minor weight debuff is nuts. Nimble along with weapon proficiency and fitness is the key to taking on sizable groups effectively. One thing that I didnt take into account when making that list is the fact that to pick these positive traits, youre going to have to take some hits. I never play without it. I play with darker nights so Cat Eyes is one that I always take. Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. Smoker means that the longer your character goes without smoking the more gradually unhappy they will get. Just carry 2 filled bottles around with you and you wont notice this trait. Short Sighted: 4/5 I think even when it is functioning (I think it doesn't do anything right now). Best Negative Traits (Tier List) - Project Zomboid - 1gamerdash Prone to illness makes you more likely to get a cold but outdoorsman makes you less likely to get and cold and you're something like 90% less likely to get scratched on a tree which also covers thin skinned. Overweight/Underweight can be remedied with the appropriate food intake, i think you can get desensitised after killing a shit-ton of zombies - not 100% sure tho. All rights reserved. I'll pose this question to you all so that a list may be compiled: what are all the negative traits that can go away with time? [Top 10] Project Zomboid Best Traits That Are Excellent Negative Traits : r/projectzomboid - reddit Getting into a zombie's line-of-sight is almost always a bad idea, so this perk hurts newer players a lot more than it hurts experienced players. People be doing a lot of running in this game. One tiny mistake and the character youve had for a few in-games weeks/months is gone and so are your skills. Not exact numbers, but a zombie that has a 100% chance to see you on a tile per tick with inconspicuous might only have a 92% chance. Might as well take some extra points if you have to eat a lot anyway. However, there are a ton ofboth positive and negative traits to choose from. Growing crops is great, but the benefit from farming skill is not significant enough. Underweight - 6 points. This will get you killed. Anything that increases endurance loss will probably get you killed. Gymnast 4/5. While you might be shuddering at the thought of making one of the survival mechanics in a survival RPG even worse to deal with dont! Claustrophobia on a no sleep MP server is just free points. Plus the fact that each of them gives you 10 whole points to spend on skills is wild. Some people don't care though hence why in the middle at 3/5. You will wake up close to tired. Organized increases the storage capacity of all containers so its a little more useful than youre giving it credit for but I agree that its expensive. For more guides onProject Zomboid, we at Pro Game Guides have you covered with an ever-expanding roster of guides! 25% slower xp gain with weapons. Expensive, though. I picked ugly, underweight, social anxiety, bald, oversleeper and underachiever. The XP boosts will be massively helpful too. Play deaf, it's 12 free points. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. Description: Panic when performing first aid on self, cannot perform first aid on others, gets stressed when bloody. So over time your panic generation decreases so it kinda goes away, also you can stand outside and click on something to sleep on and it'll work, you can also speed up time and your panic will go down, then right click sleep. It's a metagame thing; really 5/5 because the point of a game is to be enjoyable, not literally waste your time doing literally nothing. On the flip side weak is very good points for this reason. Probably bugged in the current patch but right now testing has found it to literally have no effect on anything. I mostly agree with your list but I also play in sandbox so some of my settings change the importance of things. First Aid is such a brokenly bad skill it shouldn't even be in the game currently. Like I can be facing forward and hear an out-of-place moan and know that there's a zombie behind me but still not in my perception circle. Just avoid getting fractures and you will barely notice you have the trait. This one may be a no-go for you and I can understand that. Here is some of the best negative traits in Project Zomboid. As its an RPG game you are developing your own story, so play as you wish. Even if I dont want a huge disadvantage at the start of the game I usually grab this perk. Athletic is non negotiable. Slow Reader makes an easy two points to put into something better.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined'){ez_ad_units.push([[580,400],'setreadygame_com-box-4','ezslot_9',119,'0','0'])};__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-setreadygame_com-box-4-0'); This might seem like a bad idea to you at first if you are an action hero style of gamer. Cooking is so useless taking this for -6 will hurt your character. For many task that involves you being out in the open near obstructed sight lines (Foraging, Looting zombies, Fishing, Farming, fixing/fueling vehicles, etc), the extra warning in many cases is the difference between life or death. Still pretty bad for new players. Wakeful: 5/5 Less loss of fatigue and faster sleeping time. Allows you to keep a regular schedule, stay out of the dark, and excercise/forage/run/fight more before getting sleepy. Overweight, I always pick overweight. Funnily enough this is the one negative trait that actually includes a little positive effect as well. But keep in mind that you will need to deal with this trait's adverse side effects for the early portion of your game, which islow endurance and endurance regeneration. After about a week in-game you wont be struggling from this anymore. It's good, but even at max speed boost you can be wasting hours of your real life into this game by taking this trait instead of Fast Reader. Farming isnt too difficult to level, either. I've never found food to be a massive issue in this game, just forage for a few hours and you'll have enough food for the week. Want an overweight lumberjack? Water is very easy to find, not worth 6 points, stops you from taking high thirst. Unfortunately you arent able to get this trait if your character has the Veteran job as this removes panic from your character completely. Now I just avoid the weight traits to get athletic; but for combat characters I'm going fire officer all the way now. Yes good call with the Thin-skinned. Napkin math puts all of that together as +42 trait points that either can be worked off or will eventually become irrelevant.
